Poker Freerolls
If you want to play poker without a risk you should definately try poker freeroll tournaments. In poker freerolls you do not need to pay anything to attend in the poker tournament. Instead it is the poker company that pays for the prize pool.
Poker tournaments
Normally the prize pool in the poker tournaments are paid by the attendees with the so called buy-in. For example you might need to pay $10+$1 (a total of $11) to join a specific poker tournament.
Prize pool and prize pot
The first $10 will then be put in the prize pot to be distributed among the top ranking players. The prize is shared between the highest X ranking players. It could example be a prize for the top 50 players or maybe top 200 players (depending of the size of the tournament) and the buy-in.
The fee
The additional $1, in the above mentioned example, is the fee for you to buy into the tournament. This is earnings for the poker company that hosts the tournament.
The fee, just mentioned, will not go into the winnings but instead be used by the poker company to among other stuff; cover poker freerolls.
Freerolls
The freeroll tournaments (freerolls) could for example have a $1000 free roll where you do not have to pay anything at all to attend in the tournament. Of course this mean a lot of players will attend to hope for some earnings and therefore the tournament time could take very long time before it finishes.
Poker freerolls is a good way to get started with poker since you don\'t really risk anything but if you want to earn the big bucks and do not have too much time you should really spend your time on real money buy-in tournaments since that would mean there are much less players.
